Wistaria Chapter #531 - Order of the Eastern Star - Shriners Hospital for Children

Wistaria holds a special love for Shriners Hospital for Children. Unknown to many people is the fact that all Shriners are Masons and a part of our Masonic family. We are amazed by the hospital's achievements on behalf of some of the most vulnerable members of our world and are proud to call the Shriners and Masons our Brothers.

Shriners Hospital for Children has been providing worldwide hope and healing to children for more than 100 years. Their pediatric care and research is renowned. Many people do not realize that all Shriners are a part of our Masonic family and are Master Masons. www.shrinerschildrens.org

Wistaria Chapter contacted administrators of the hospital to find out what were the "unmet requests" of their patients and their parents. We discovered that the children who most needed uplifting were infants and teens. Our hearts broke and then our hands got to work. We were able to provide lovey blankets for the infants and drawing instruction books, sketch pads, colored pencils, games, and nail polish for teens.

Wistaria Chapter raised enough designated funds to purchase 2 hand-held dynamometers for use at their Sacramento hospital. These units are assessment tools that are used to objectively quantify and track the muscle strength of patients during rehabilitation. We are blessed to be even a small part of this wonderful organization's efforts. Wistaria's 2022 Worthy Matron personally delivered the funds to the administrators of Shriners Hospital for Children at the conclusion of our Chapter's year of fundraising.

We are so thankful when our local Shriners are available to participate in Turlock's local outreach at our Farmers' Market. They were able to entertain the crowd and to inform our neighbors about some of the goodness they are paying forward into our community.
